According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a message of condolence, Sharmin S Murshid stated that Badruddin Umar is an important name in the cultural and political arena of Bangladesh. She acknowledged that he was not just a writer but a theoretical thinker who contributed deep thoughts and analytical writings on nationalism, communalism, and cultural uniqueness of Bangladesh.
