Meeting Focuses on Rights and Safety of Disabled People in Manikganj

Manikganj: A meeting on the rights and safety of persons with disabilities was held today at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, organized by the Manikganj District Administration in association with the Manikganj Disabled People's Organization to Development (MDPOD).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Dr Manwar Hossein Malla attended the event as the chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General and Revenue) Mohammad Ali presided over the meeting. Dr Manwar Hossein Malla emphasized the collective responsibility of ensuring the rights and safety of persons with disabilities and highlighted that effective implementation of disability-related laws would aid them in accessing education, employment, healthcare, and social protection on an equal basis with others.

Among others, District Legal Aid Officer Durakhsa Jahan, Deputy Director of Social Services Abdul Baten, Sightsavers Country Director Amrita Rejina Rosario, MDPOD Director Antaj Ali, Manikganj Press Club President Zahangir Alam Biswas, and General Secretary Shahanur Islam were present.

With support from the "Equality of Bangladesh Campaign" and the Sightsavers Country Office, the meeting emphasized the proper implementation of laws to ensure the rights, security, and welfare of disabled people.
