Dhaka: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man with four gold bars weighing 466 grams from the Rajarhat Bus Stand area under Sadar upazila this morning. The arrested individual has been identified as Amit Biswas, 31, the son of Ranjan Biswas, a resident of Jagir Deoli village under Boalmari upazila in Faridpur district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team from BGB Battalion-49 conducted a drive along the Jashore-Khulna highway in the Rajarhat Bus Stand area around 11 am. Lt. Col. Saifullah Siddiqui, commanding officer of BGB-49, stated that the BGB team arrested Amit Biswas and recovered four gold bars worth approximately Taka 70.50 lakh from his possession.
During preliminary interrogation, Amit confessed that he was traveling towards the Satkhira border via Jashore to collect gold bars from smugglers, as reported by the BGB official. The arrested person was subsequently handed over to Jashore Kotwali Police Station along with the seized gold bars for further legal action.
