Dhaka: An eviction drive was executed today under the overall supervision of the Forest Department to dismantle illegal structures in the Baupara Beat area of Bhawal National Park Range.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was led by the Divisional Forest Officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, Dhaka, as mentioned in a press release. With the assistance of the Gazipur District Administration, the coordinated effort included the Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police, and the Forest Department.
The drive resulted in the recovery of approximately one acre of reserved forestland in Bahadurpur Mouza. The reclaimed land holds an estimated market value of around TK three crore. During the operation, a total of 61 illegal structures, including buildings, shops, and other establishments, constructed by 48 encroachers, were demolished.
Officials have confirmed that similar joint operations will continue in the future to protect forestland and conserve nature.
