Cumilla: A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing a housewife in Sadar upazila of the district in 2019. Judge of Public Safety Crimes Prevention Tribunal and Special Sessions Judge Court Mohammad Saifur Rahman pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court also fined the convict, Delwar Hossain, Taka 10,000, and in default, he will have to serve three additional months in jail. State lawyer Advocate Yusuf Ali confirmed the court's decision.
The convicted accused, Delwar Hossain, 36, is the son of the late Abdur Rahman from Hatigara village in Kalirbazar union of Comilla Sadar upazila. On November 5, 2019, Delwar killed his neighbor, Shanu Begum, 50, due to previous enmity.
Locals apprehended Delwar and handed him over to the police. On the same day, the deceased's husband, Farid Mia, filed a case with Kotwali Model Police Station in connection with the murder.
