Sherpur: Two children drowned in a Sherpur pond while picking water lilies on Friday evening in the Chokpara Koroikandi area of the sadar upazila in the district. The deceased were identified as Fahima Akhter, aged 9, daughter of Masek Ali, and Mst. Jemi, aged 10, daughter of Joynuddin, both residents of the Chokpara area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-charge of sadar thana, Md. Zubaidul Alam, stated that both children went missing in the morning after they went to pick water lilies. Their bodies were discovered in the evening when relatives began searching for them.
Md. Zubaidul Alam further mentioned that police visited the spot after receiving information about the incident. An unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the drowning.
