Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain has pledged to support the recovery of ancestral properties belonging to the Hindu community that are not under legal dispute. “We will extend cooperation in recovering the lost ancestral properties of the Hindu community, for which there are no cases in the court,” he stated. This assurance was given during a ceremony organized by Bangladesh Railway, where allotment papers for railway lands were handed over to two mosques and a temple at a symbolic price in the capital’s Joar Sahara Mouza of Khilkhet and Cantonment areas.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khalid highlighted the allocation of railway lands to religious institutions as an example of Bangladesh’s communal harmony. He emphasized that Bangladesh serves as a model of communal harmony and amity. He remarked on the occurrence of isolated incidents aimed at desecrating religious institutions, noting that those responsible are miscreants with no religious identity.
During the event, Dhaka Divisional Railway Manager Md. Mohiuddin Arif presented the allotment papers to the management committees of the mosques and temple. The allotted lands include 0.2011 acre for Khilkhet Railway Jame Mosque, 0.0552 acre for An-Noor Jame Mosque, and 0.0562 acre for Khilkhet Sarbajanin Sri Sri Durga Temple, all located in Joar Sahara Mouza.
The ceremony marked a significant step in fostering communal harmony, with the lands being allotted at a symbolic price determined by Bangladesh Railway. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Railway Ministry Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Religious Adviser Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain, and other prominent officials.
