Chittagong: Commerce, Jute and Textiles and Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin today announced that the construction work of the Parki Parjaton Complex in Anwara upazila is set to be completed by December. During a visit to the project site at around 11 am, Bashir expressed confidence in the timely completion, as assured by the construction firm’s officials and the project’s director.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the implementation of the Parki Tourism Complex has faced delays due to several challenges, notably water-related issues. Despite these setbacks, Secretary to the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, Begum Nasreen Jahan, emphasized the project’s potential and the importance of local community involvement, along with support from tourist police and law enforcement, to ensure its successful implementation.

The visit was attended by notable officials, including Chairman of Bangladesh Parjaton Corporation Sayema Shaheen Sultana, Project Director Majedur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Anwara Tahmina Akhter, and Assistant Commissioner (AC Land) Dipok Tripura. The construction of the Parki Tourism Complex commenced in 2018 with an initial budget of Taka 62 crore over 13.36 acres of land. The first phase concluded in November 2020.

However, due to unsatisfactory progress, only 20 percent of the project was completed within the original timeframe. This led to an extension of the project deadline to December 2021 and an increased budget of Taka 71.25 crore. The completion date has since been further extended to December this year.
