London: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain had open talks with the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London after a long gap. On Monday evening (London time), Dr. Mosharraf and his son, BNP National Executive Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Maruf Hossain, met with Tarique Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Mosharraf expressed his emotions about the reunion with the Acting Chairman, stating, “After a long time, I had open conversation with our Acting Chairman. It is difficult to express the feelings in words.” He mentioned that while they have had virtual meetings once or twice a week, it had been since 2008 that they last met in person. “We were arrested on the same day and spent a month together in jail. After that, he went to London and we hadn’t met since,” he added.
Dr. Mosharraf shared that the meeting allowed them to engage in overdue discussions and provided him with an emotional relief. “Yesterday, after so many year
s, we finally met. We shared long-overdue chat, had in-depth political discussions and I felt a great emotional relief,” he said. He also expressed his hopes and prayers for the long life and success of Tarique Rahman for the well-being of Bangladesh.
Regarding Tarique Rahman’s return to Bangladesh, Dr. Mosharraf mentioned, “Yes, he said he would return very soon, though he has not yet fixed a specific date.” Additionally, Dr. Mosharraf noted that he is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Thursday, following the completion of his medical treatment, with his departure set for tomorrow (Wednesday).
