Thakurgaon: A motorcycle rider tragically lost his life, and three others sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving two motorcycles in the Notunpara area under Nekmarad Kumarganj on the Baliadangi-Ranishankail highway in Ranishankail upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victim has been identified as Jasim, 30, son of Soleman Ali, from Kashipur union of the upazila. The accident occurred around 12:30 pm when Jasim’s motorcycle, heading towards Baliadangi, collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The impact resulted in Jasim’s immediate death and left three others injured.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ranishankail Police Station Md. Arshedul Haque reported that fire service personnel promptly arrived at the scene. They rescued the injured individuals and transported them to the Upazila Health Complex for medical attention.
The injured parties include Muktarul Islam, 35, and his wife Mosha Sultana, 25, from Bhardangi village in Haripur upazila, as well as Sanjay Roy, 27, from Mahajan Hat area in Baliadangi upazila. Dr. Firoz Alam, the resident medical officer of Ranishankail Upazila Health Complex, stated that one of the injured was referred to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital due to worsening conditions.
An investigation into the accident is currently ongoing, with legal actions pending as per the findings, added the OC.
