Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is making headway in its preparations to reveal the roadmap for the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections, set to be announced before Ramadan in the first half of February next year. Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed is scheduled to provide a media briefing tomorrow on the finalized action plan, which was deliberated upon during a high-level meeting held at the Election Commission Building in Agargaon on Thursday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting included the presence of Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, along with other commissioners and senior officials from the secretariat. Commissioner Sanaullah confirmed the impending announcement and emphasized the EC’s dedication to conducting elections that are free, fair, and aligned with constitutional guidelines. “We are fully prepared for a fair, beautiful, and acceptable election,” he stated.

Previously, on August 18, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed mentioned that a draft roadmap had been prepared and was awaiting the commission’s final approval before being made public. The anticipated roadmap aims to offer a comprehensive timeline and operational guidelines to ensure the next national elections are conducted smoothly and transparently.
