Manikganj: Police have arrested three alleged hijackers from the Aricha Launch Ghat area under Shibalaya upazila in connection with a gold snatching incident.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals are Sajal, 42, Shahjahan, 44, and Israfil, 45. Officer-in-Charge of Shibalaya Police Station Kamal Hossain reported that on August 13, a group of four forcibly took five voris of gold from Khalilur Rahman, the General Secretary of the Charigram Bazaar Committee, while he was traveling to Pabna.
Following the incident, Khalilur Rahman lodged a complaint at Shibalaya Police Station, identifying four suspects involved in the robbery. Acting on this complaint, the police conducted a special operation in the Aricha ghat area on the night of August 18 and successfully apprehended three of the accused the following morning. Efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining suspect and retrieve the stolen gold, as stated by the Officer-in-Charge.
Khalilur Rahman later confirmed the identities of the arrested individuals at the police station. The accused were presented before the court on Tuesday.
