EDCL to Establish Vaccine and Anti-Venom Plant in Sirajdikhan: Nurjahan

Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Adviser, Nurjahan Begum, announced today that Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL) will establish a new state-of-the-art pharmaceuticals, vaccine, and anti-venom production facility in the Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj district. The announcement was made during her visit to the BISIC Chemical Industrial Park in Sirajdikhan, the proposed site for the construction of the new plant.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nurjahan Begum urged relevant authorities to expedite the land registration process to ensure the timely implementation of the project. The project plan includes relocating the existing vaccine production unit from Gopalganj, as well as the EDCL plant from Manikganj, to the new location. Over 40 acres of land have already been secured for the project, marking a significant step forward in its development.



In addition, the adviser suggested relocating the ongoing anti-venom production project from Chattogram to the new Sirajdikhan facility. She expressed optimism about the plant’s potential profitability, considering all operational and strategic factors. EDCL Managing Director Md Samad Mridha and other senior officials were present at the site during the visit, underscoring the importance of this initiative for the region and the nation’s pharmaceutical sector.
