Bagerhat: Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Shri Krishna, was celebrated in Bagerhat today with great enthusiasm. The festivities began with lighting the ‘Mangal Deep’ at Harisava Temple premises in Shaltala, followed by a discussion on the life of Lord Krishna.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khulna Divisional Assistant Organizing Secretary of BNP National Executive Committee Jayanta Kumar Kundu attended the event as the chief guest. Bagerhat District BNP Convener Engr. ATM Akram Hossain Talim, District Coordinator MA Salam, Member Secretary Muzaffar Rahman Alam, and Bagerhat Municipal BNP President Shahed Ali Robi were present as special guests.
Swami Guru Sevananda Maharaj, principal of Bagerhat Ramakrishna Ashram, also spoke at the event. In his speech, Jayanta Kundu emphasized that keeping the teachings of Lord Krishna in our hearts will guide the future and bring peace to the world.
Janmashtami Celebration Committee President Babu Mohan Lal Halder presided over the function, and Puja Celebration Front Member Secretary Babla Halder moderated. A colorful procession with drums and bands later paraded through the main roads of the city.
