CABI Delegation Engages with BAU Journalists’ Association on Agricultural Journalism

Mymensingh: A delegation from the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) engaged in discussions with the Bangladesh Agricultural University Journalists' Association (BAUJA) to explore the current state and future prospects of agricultural journalism in Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting took place on Tuesday at 2:30 pm at the office of the Associate Student Adviser of the university. The delegation included Azmat Abbas, a Pakistani journalist and Development Communication Manager (Asia) at CABI; Dr. Md. Saleh Ahmed, CABI Country Representative; and Dr. Dilruba Sharmin, Project Coordinator. Professor of Entomology and Associate Student Adviser Dr. Mohammad Shaef Ullah from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was also present.

Representing BAUJA, President Habibur Rahman Roni from Daily Ajker Potrika, Senior member Md. Taniul Karim Zim from BSS, and Secretary Md. Aman Ullah from Daily Amar Desh participated in the meeting. The discussion addressed current challenges in agricultural journalism in Bangladesh, strategies for sector improvement, and a comparison of agricultural conditions in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Both parties expressed interest in forming a joint journalism forum between the two countries to facilitate knowledge sharing, exchange information, and emphasize the role of media professionals in agricultural development.
