Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is set to publish the draft of the updated voter list tomorrow, in preparation for the forthcoming 13th National Parliament election. The list aims to include previously excluded voters and remove the names of deceased individuals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed stated that approximately 4.45 million voters, who were earlier excluded, will be added to the draft list. The disposal of claims and objections related to the list is expected to be completed by August 31.
Earlier, a press release from the EC on August 4 announced the publication of the draft voter list on August 10. The final voter list, following necessary corrections, is scheduled for release on August 31. The supplementary voter list to be published will include individuals registered in the voter database up to June 30, 2025, who were born on or before January 1, 2007, along with the names of deceased voters for removal.
Post-publication of the supplementary list, applications for inclusion of eligible individuals, removal of names due to death or ineligibility, voter transfers, and correction of errors can be submitted by August 21. The comprehensive final voter list will be available on August 31.
Previously, on July 21, Akhtar Ahmed mentioned that 44 lakh 66 thousand new voters have been added during this registration cycle.
