Rangpur: University students should be active in extracurricular activities along with academic studies, stated Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali, Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR). He emphasized the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular engagement during his visit to the orientation classes for new students across various departments.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-chancellor encouraged freshers to cultivate the habit of regular study and punctuality in attending classes, underscoring its benefits for their professional and personal lives. He urged students to report any instances of discrimination or ragging to the university administration immediately.
During his address, Professor Ali paid tribute to the martyrs of the July Uprising, seeking divine blessings and forgiveness for their souls. He highlighted the sacrifice of martyr Abu Sayeed, expressing that students’ success through education would honor Sayeed’s legacy.
In a gesture of welcome, the Vice-chancellor presented new students with various gifts, including flowers. The event was attended by deans, department heads, teachers, and first-year honours students from all 22 departments for the academic year 2024-2025.
