Barishal: Health officials today said they recorded 408 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the period, out of the 408 cases, 73 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito-carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said. The statement highlighted that the remaining cases included 58 hospitalizations in Chattogram division, 59 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 57 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 37 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additionally, 25 cases were reported in Mymensingh division, 52 in Rajshahi division, seven in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed 95 deaths while the disease inflicted a total of 23,220 individuals. The dengue outbreak last year claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people in the country.
