8 DU Students Receive ‘Ayesha-Amirul Trust Fund’ Scholarship

Dhaka: Eight students from various departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences at Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded the ‘Ayesha-Amirul Trust Fund’ scholarship. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan handed over the scholarship cheques at a ceremony held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Niaz emphasized the importance of scholarships in alleviating the financial difficulties faced by many students. He mentioned that such achievements could be included in the students’ Curriculum Vitae (CV), thereby enhancing their future prospects. Prof Niaz also highlighted that scholarships serve as a bridge between donors and society, fostering a sense of social responsibility among recipients.



The event was presided over by DU Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Mamun Ahmed and Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Enamul Haque attending as special guests.



The scholarship beneficiaries include first-year students Md Jakaria Islam and Md Habibur Rahman from the Department of Soil, Water, and Environment; Jidni Hossen Bonna from the Department of Botany; Atiya Sinha Roshni from the Department of Zoology; Mayeda Jannat from the Department of Psychology; and Abdul Majed Bin Sayed from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.



Second-year students Shahriar Sadik from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Habiba Islam from the Department of Psychology, also received the scholarship. Each student was awarded a one-time grant of Taka 6,000 under this programme.
