Rangpur: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar announced that the school feeding programme (SFP) will recommence in government primary schools nationwide starting next month. The announcement was made during a views-exchange meeting held at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was organised by the Rangpur district administration and District Primary Education Office to discuss improving the quality of primary education. The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal and attended by head teachers, assistant teachers of government primary schools, and primary education officials from various upazilas of the district.
The meeting also saw the participation of Secretary to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md Masud Rana, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Abu Nur Md Shamsuzzaman, and its Director (Policy and Operation) Mohammad Kamrul Hasan as special guests.
During his speech, Adviser Poddar mentioned that the procurement process for the SFP has already commenced, and training for the implementers is also in progress. All necessary preparations are expected to be finalized by this month, with the programme launching at the field level in September.
“The programme will be executed nationwide through two projects. The larger project will cover all government primary schools in 150 upazilas, while a separate project will be implemented in the Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban districts,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Adviser Poddar attended the ‘Roll-Out’ workshop of the project titled ‘Feeding Programme in Government Primary Schools’ at the Guest House of RDRS Bhaban in the city, where he was the chief guest.
