Khulna Prepares for July Mass Uprising Day Observance with Comprehensive Programs

Khulna: Various organizations in Khulna are preparing a series of events to observe July Mass Uprising Day on August 5. The Khulna District Administration will initiate the day at 9 am, paying floral tributes at the under-construction July Martyrs’ Memorial at Shibbari intersection. Special prayers will be conducted in mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other religious sites across the city. Documentaries on the 2024 July Uprising will be showcased at key locations such as Shibbari intersection, Shaheed Hadis Park, Moylapota, Joragate, Gallamari, Rupsha, and Notun Rasta throughout the day.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, at 3 pm, a reception and open discussion will take place at Shibbari. This event will see participation from families of martyrs, injured citizens, July fighters, and political leaders. The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has also organized multiple activities, including a children’s art competition at 9 am at Nagar Bhaban, along with essay and quiz competitions for school students. These will be followed by prayers, discussions, and prize distributions, with KCC Administrator Md. Firoz Sarkar attending as the chief guest.



A friendly football match between KCC XI and Anti-Discrimination Student XI, which was initially planned for August 4, has been rescheduled to August 9 at 4 pm at the district stadium. Additionally, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) will commemorate the day by hoisting the national flag at the administrative building, VC’s residence, and dormitories, followed by a children’s art competition, documentary screening, discussion session, and special prayers at the central mosque.



Khulna University will organize a victory procession from the campus to Zero Point, culminating in a cultural program at the cafeteria featuring student groups. On August 10, at 3 pm, a special event highlighting the role of journalists in anti-fascist movements will be held at Liaquat Ali Auditorium, organized by the Khulna University Journalists’ Association and the Student Affairs Office.
