Dhaka: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today emphasized that advancing the nation is the sole path to honor those who have sacrificed their lives over the past 15 years, including during the July uprising. He stated that fulfilling the aspirations for which the martyrs took to the streets is the only means of paying tribute to them.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and event organized to honor the families of the martyrs. The event, titled ‘Anti-Fascist Movement and My Untold Stories,’ was arranged by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal at the Institution of Engineers in the city to mark the anniversary of the July uprising.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir served as the key speaker at the discussion, with several BNP central leaders participating. Jubo Dal president Monayem Munna presided over the event, while General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan moderated it. Leaders and activists from across the nation attended the event.
Tarique Rahman stressed the need to move forward with the aspirations of those who faced oppression and torture under the autocrat regime over the past 15 years. He pointed out that the people of Bangladesh are no longer interested in politics based on rhetoric and statements but seek change and the implementation of promises.
He further stated that the public now demands politics grounded in sound planning and execution. BNP is systematically working to meet public expectations and enhance the quality of life for the people. He outlined the party’s plans to provide primary healthcare, focus on the environment and climate, improve education, create employment, and support small and medium entrepreneurs.
Highlighting the demographic structure, he noted that more than one-third of the country’s population comprises young people. While not all are unemployed, a significant majority of unemployed youth are educated. BNP is actively working to address this issue by developing a realistic education curriculum.
Referring to his party’s reform plans in the online business sector, Tarique Rahman stated that efforts have been initiated to supply products from small and cottage industries in Bangladesh through online business platforms. The party has also devised plans to promote the production and marketing of these industries by leveraging this opportunity and potential.
During the event, 78 families of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal martyrs from the July uprising were honored, and six martyred Jubo Dal activists were posthumously recognized. Additionally, prizes were awarded to the top 50 participants in a children’s drawing competition.
