Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 343 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the period, 111 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito-carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
It said among the rest, 51 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 54 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 59 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 64 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, while three were in Mymensingh division.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed 84 deaths while the disease has inflicted 21,670 individuals. The DGHS, however, reported that 337 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.
The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 101,214 people in the country.
