BMU VC Calls for Ethical Standards in Doctor-Pharmaceutical Relations

Dhaka: Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam emphasized the need for enhancing the ethical standards in the relationship between doctors and the pharmaceutical industry during a scientific seminar in the capital. The seminar, organized by the Bangladesh Renal Association, focused on improving the quality of life for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and managing pruritus and mineral bone disorder (MBD).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam, serving as the chief guest, delivered a keynote presentation on ‘Ethical Considerations for Attending Pharmaceutical Seminars: Balancing Ethics, Academic Integrity and Professional Responsibilities’. The seminar underscored the importance of maintaining professional integrity while engaging with pharmaceutical entities.



The event featured former principal of Chittagong Medical College Prof Dr. Imran Bin Yunus as a special guest, and included a special documentary presentation by Dr. Golam Mahbub Sikder of Cumilla Medical College and Hospital on the July mass uprising.



Attendees included prominent figures such as the Convener of Bangladesh Renal Association Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Professor Dr. Pradip Kumar Dutta, Professor Dr. Abdul Mukit, Professor Dr. Dhrubo Das, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Dr. Syed Mahtab Ul Islam, Dr. Enamul Kabir, and Dr. Anisuzzaman, alongside other physicians from the association.
