Godagari: Shipping and Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Shakhawat Hossain has emphasized the necessity of high-level discussions for the reactivation of the Sultanganj River Port. During his visit to the site, he pointed out that the port requires significant improvements in infrastructure, road connectivity, and clearance from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) before it can commence operations. He underscored the need for coordination among the various government agencies involved.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shakhawat Hossain expressed optimism that if all relevant parties collaborate effectively, the port could be operational soon. The visit also saw the presence of BIWTA Chairman Arif Ahmed Mostofa and the presidents of the Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj Chambers of Commerce, Masudur Rahman and Abdul Wahed, respectively. They accompanied the adviser to assess the current status of the port facilities and discuss potential steps forward.
