Dhaka: The Capstone Course 2025/2, an intensive three-week strategic leadership programme, concluded today at the National Defence College (NDC), Mirpur Cantonment. General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army, was present as the chief guest and distributed certificates among the Capstone Fellows, according to an ISPR release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this session of the Capstone Course gathered 45 distinguished fellows, including senior military officers, bureaucrats, senior judges, academicians, doctors, engineers, scientists, senior officials from both government and non-government organizations, diplomats, journalists, and corporate leaders. General Waker-Uz-Zaman congratulated the fellows on completing the demanding course and emphasized the significance of strategic leadership in addressing contemporary challenges in nation-building. He urged the fellows to lead by example and contribute to shaping a prosperous and resilient Bangladesh.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman highlighted the role of the Capstone Course in fostering a convergence of ideas among the country's emerging thought leaders. He commended the diversity of insights generated during the course and believed it would have a lasting impact on the fellows' contributions to their professions and the nation. He stressed the importance of platforms like the Capstone Course in cultivating strategic insight and collaboration amidst a rapidly changing global landscape.
Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque, Commandant of NDC, discussed the importance of informed dialogue and consensus-building on national issues. He acknowledged the fellows' engagement throughout the course, which strengthened the network of strategic thinkers in Bangladesh and supported the College's mission to develop visionary leadership.
The Capstone Course is one of the flagship programmes of the National Defence College, designed to build strategic awareness, foster critical thinking, promote interdisciplinary cooperation, and develop a shared understanding of national security and development issues across various leadership spheres in Bangladesh. The closing ceremony was attended by senior military and civil officials, faculty and staff from the National Defence College, and dignitaries from the Armed Forces and other national institutions, as noted in the ISPR release.
