Sylhet: The joint military exercise 'Tiger Lightning (TL)-2025' commenced today at the Para Commando Brigade, Jalalabad Cantonment in Sylhet, marking a significant collaboration between the Bangladesh Army and the United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the exercise was organized jointly by Bangladesh Army and USARPAC, as per an Inter Services Public Relations release. Major General Ascot A. Winter, Deputy Commanding General of USARPAC, graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. The exercise is under the joint supervision of the Para Commando Brigade of the Bangladesh Army and the Nevada National Guard from the United States Army Pacific Command.
The exercise, spanning six days, will continue until July 30. The release emphasized that Bangladesh and the United States maintain mutual cooperation in regional and global security, counter-terrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance. This joint effort underscores Bangladesh's commitment to confronting natural disasters and global threats, working collaboratively with the United States and other partners.
Tiger Lightning 2025 aims to enhance mutual collaboration, improve joint operational capabilities, and strengthen preparedness. The exercise involves 66 personnel from the Nevada National Guard of the United States and 100 from the Bangladesh Army's Para Commando Brigade.
Senior officials from the Bangladesh Army, including the Director of Army Air Defence Directorate, the Director of Military Training Directorate, and the Commander of the Para Commando Brigade, attended the inauguration. The exercise is expected to significantly enhance the professional skills of the participating troops and further strengthen the existing relationship between the Bangladesh Army and the United States Army.
