Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul described today's Air Force training aircraft crash in the capital's Milestone School and College as a national tragedy of unprecedented scale. "Such a massive, catastrophic accident has never occurred in our national history," he stated while addressing newsmen at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser, along with his colleagues, rushed to the institute to check on the condition of the victims and those injured in the Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crash into a building of Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara area this afternoon. Dr. Asif Nazrul assured that the authorities have taken all necessary measures to provide the best possible treatment to the victims.
He emphasized that if necessary, foreign doctors will be brought in to assist, and arrangements will be made to send critically injured students abroad for further treatment. He reassured that there will be no lack in any aspect of their medical care. However, he expressed deep sorrow, stating, "But what we have lost today cannot be compensated by anything."
The tragic incident involved a Bangladesh Air Force FT-7 BGI training aircraft crashing into the school building, resulting in the loss of at least 19 lives, including that of the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Toukir Islam. Additionally, 164 others were left injured in this devastating event.
