Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain emphasized the significant role played by madrasah students, including those from Alia and Qawmi institutions, in resisting fascism during the 'July Uprising'. Speaking at the 'Madrasah Resistance Day 2025' event, held at the Jamia Mahmudia Madrasah premises in Uttar Kajla, Dr Khalid highlighted the sacrifices made by these students, mentioning that many were injured and some lost their lives in the struggle.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was organized by the Technical and Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Education. The 'July Resurgence Programme-2025' aimed to honor the heroic sacrifices and resistance efforts of madrasah students during the uprising last year. Dr Khalid expressed optimism about the future contributions of madrasah students toward Bangladesh's development, stating that he hopes they will continue to be ready to make the highest sacrifices when needed.
The event's day-long activities included speeches by families of the martyrs, a presentation of the list of martyrs, a documentary film exhibition titled 'White Jubba (long cloth), Red Blood' focusing on madrasah martyrs, and an Islamic cultural evening.
