Dhaka: The National Consensus Commission (NCC) today postponed its second round of talks with political parties following a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara area. The incident led to significant casualties, prompting the commission and participating parties to express profound shock and observe a one-minute silence in honor of the victims, as noted in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the commission offered prayers for the salvation of the departed souls and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved families. NCC Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz urged relevant authorities to ensure proper treatment for those who sustained burn injuries from the crash.
The second round of discussions with political parties was in its 16th day before being interrupted by the tragic event. Representatives from 30 political parties, including Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizen Party (NCP), Gana Adhikar Parishad, Gana Sanghati, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Biplobi Workers Party, and Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, were participating in the talks.
