Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has issued a directive to ensure the transparency and public visibility of the July Charter preparation process. This directive was made during a meeting of the National Consensus Commission held at the State Guest House Jamuna.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was attended by key figures including Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, and members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, and Dr. Mohammad Ayub Mia. Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser M Siraz Uddin Miah and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider were also present.
During the meeting, Professor Yunus, who also serves as the chairman of the commission, was briefed on the progress of the Consensus Commission's efforts. The members assured the Chief Adviser that they are making every effort to complete the July Charter by the target date of August 5.
Professor Yunus commended the commission members for their dedication and unique contributions. He emphasized the historic significance of the event, stating, "The desire of the mass uprising will be reflected through this. So, the entire process must be completed transparently; it must be visible to the people."
Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Dr. Ali Riaz reported to the Chief Adviser that after the second phase of dialogue with political parties, consensus was reached on eight issues. He added that discussions are continuing to achieve consensus on an additional seven issues.
