Tangail: A five-kilometer symbolic marathon took place in Tangail district today, organized by the district administration to commemorate the "July Mass Uprising Day." The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (administration) Shorifa Haque, who released balloons in front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office to mark the beginning of the race.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event saw the presence of key district officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional District Magistrate Mahbub Hasan, and Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Nahida Akhter. Government and private officials from various departments, as well as July protesters and members of the martyrs' families, also attended the inauguration.
The day's activities commenced early in the morning as competitors from various regions gathered in front of the district administration office. The marathon started at 7:15 am, attracting nearly 700 participants, including July protesters and relatives of the martyrs.
The marathon route began at the district administration office and concluded at Maulana Bhashani University of Science and Technology, covering key roads throughout the city. In the race, Shahadat Hossain claimed the top position, followed by Rakib in second, and Fahadul securing third place.
