Dhaka: Those who will reach the age of 18 until the election schedule is announced can be voters. The Council of Advisers has given in-principle and final approval to the draft of the Voters' List (Amendment) Ordinance-2025 with this amendment. The approval was given at the council meeting held at the Chief Adviser's Office today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement was made during a press conference by Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam. The press conference took place at the Foreign Service Academy this afternoon, where journalists were briefed on the details of the amendment.
This amendment is set to impact the upcoming elections by potentially increasing the number of eligible voters. The decision aligns with efforts to make the electoral process more inclusive, allowing those on the cusp of 18 to participate in the democratic process once the election schedule is announced.
