Subrota Biswas Holds Firm in Lead at GM Zia Memorial 2025

Dhaka: FM Subrota Biswas of Sports Bangla continues to maintain his solo lead with six points after the seventh round of the GM Zia Memorial 2025, currently taking place at the hall-room of the Bangladesh Chess Federation.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, five players are sharing the second position with 5.5 points. These players include IM Manon Reja Neer of Bangladesh Navy, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh Ansar, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, WCM Warsia Khusbu of Bangladesh Navy, and two Indian players, IM Kushagra Mohan and IM Subhayan Kundu.



The third position on the points table is shared by four players, each with five points. They include IM Md. Minhaz Uddin, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, Anata Choudhury, and Rishon Thapa of Nepal.



Wednesday’s seventh round matches saw IM Manon Reja Neer defeat FM Subrota Biswas, while IM Kushagra Mohan overcame FM Debaraj Chatterjee. IM Subhayan Kundu won against CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh, and FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia beat FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid. WCM Warsia Khusbu triumphed over CM Shafiq Ahmed.



FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed drew with IM Md. Minhaz Uddin, Rishon Thapa claimed victory over FM Khandaker Aminul Islam, and Anata Choudhury defeated Sk. Rashedul Hasan. Other notable results include FM Mohammad Javed’s win over Siam Chowdhury, Tashriq Saihan Shan’s victory against FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, and FM Md. Sharif Hossain beating Abheek Shah of Nepal. Additionally, CM Silwal Purushottam defeated CM Avik Sarker, and Md Muhaimenul Islam triumphed over Afnan Zarif Haque.
