Seven Arrested with Arms and Ammunition in Khulna

Khulna: Joint forces in separate operations across the city and district today apprehended seven individuals with arms and ammunition. In Khulna city, the operation was carried out by the joint forces, including the Army and Navy, in the Sadar Thana area early today, resulting in the arrest of four individuals. Among the arrested is the notorious gang leader Shakil Sheikh of the “Shakil Group,” as confirmed by Howlader Sanwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals arrested in the city include Shakil Sheikh, 41, the chief of the gang; Shahidul Islam Khokon, 34; Md. Shakil, 23, both associates of Shakil; and Yasin Arafat, 27, a member of Shakil’s rival “Ashik Group.” The forces seized a 7.65 mm pistol with a magazine, a pipe gun, five rounds of bullets, a dummy revolver, a stun gun, 180 pieces of yaba tablets, and sharp weapons from their possession. The detainees face multiple criminal charges filed at various police stations under the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP).



In another operation conducted by the Army and Paikgacha Thana Police, three individuals were arrested early today in Mathbati village under Godaipur Union of Paikgacha Upazila. Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Edrisur Rahman reported that the arrested are Rasamay Biswas, 55; Pritam Biswas, 30; and Debbrata Biswas, 38. The joint forces also seized a pipe gun, five cocktails, 150 grams of gunpowder, materials for making explosives, drug paraphernalia, three mobile phones, and three national ID cards from their possession.
