Dhaka: The government has officially declared services under the National Board of Revenue (NBR), including those at customs houses, inland container depots, bond commission rates, and customs stations, as ‘essential services’. This move is aimed at safeguarding essential trade and foreign commerce in the public interest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Labour and Employment issued a gazette notification to this effect, signed by Secretary A H M Shafiquzzaman. The notification emphasizes that NBR services are crucial for meeting the government’s revenue collection targets and maintaining dynamic financial management.
