Dhaka: The day-long 2nd Bangladesh University Squash Carnival 2025 is set to take place on Friday, July 4, at the Dhaka Club/Army Officers’ Mess. The event will feature 50 squash players, comprising 41 boys and 9 girls, from 12 different universities, as announced in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the participating universities include Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Chattogram University, BUP, MIST, BUET, IUB, Comilla Medical College, AIUB, Easton University, LUB, and UIU. The event is organized by the Bangladesh University Squash Association, with the support of Max Hospital and the Bangladesh Squash Federation (BSF). It is being regarded as a significant development for the country’s sports sector, especially for squash, which has experienced a decline in popularity.
The initiative to introduce squash in cadet colleges, universities, medical, and engineering institutions aims to revive and expand the sport in Bangladesh. BSF General Secretary Brigadier General (retd.) G.M. Quamrul Islam remarked that university students are taking the initiative to plan and implement this competition, showcasing a promising future for squash in the country. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Bangladesh University Squash Association and extended his best wishes for the success of the 2nd Bangladesh University Squash Carnival 2025.
