Dhaka: Polytechnic Institute Computer Technology emerged champions while Architecture Technology finished as runners-up in the Inter-Technology Cricket tournament held at Polytechnic Institute venue today (Monday). The cricket competition was organized by Polytechnic Institute on the occasion of Festival of Youth.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after the final, the closing and prize distribution ceremonies were held with Polytechnic Institute principal Engineer Md. Abdul Wadud Mondal serving as the chief guest. Polytechnic Institute vice-principal Md. Abu Saim Jahan, teachers, staff, and students were present at the event.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, principal Engineer Abdul Wadud Mondal emphasized the need to build a drug-free school environment and society through a focus on sports. He remarked that it is crucial for teachers and parent representatives to instill sportsmanship in students and create a field-oriented environment.
He further added that a collective effort is ne
cessary to ensure a safe environment at all societal levels, which would pave the way for a drug-free society. Nayan, a student athlete from the participating Polytechnic Institute, expressed that such games and activities throughout the year would engage students and young people, deterring them from drug-related violence.
