Dhaka: A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee is scheduled for this evening to determine the date of Ashura, following an evaluation of reports on the moon’s visibility for the month of Muharram in the year 1447 Hijri. The gathering will take place at 7 PM in the Islamic Foundation Conference Room, located at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, as mentioned in a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain will preside over the meeting. In the event of the Muharram moon being sighted anywhere in the country, individuals are encouraged to report their observations. Reports can also be communicated to the respective district administrators or upazila nirbahi officers.
