Colombo: Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain made a comeback to the Test fold after two years as Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto chose to bat first in the second and final cricket Test against Sri Lanka after winning the toss at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground in Colombo today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ebadot underwent a knee surgery in London two years ago, followed by a long rehabilitation period. He returned to competitive cricket last year and demonstrated his readiness for a five-day match. Ebadot replaced Hasan Mahmud, who was ruled out with an injury.
Bangladesh made one other change from the first Test, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz recovering from illness to be available for the second game. While it was widely believed that Miraz would replace Anamul Haque Bijoy after his low scores in the first Test, the team management decided to give Bijoy another chance. Consequently, Miraz returned to the side at the expense of Jaker Ali Anik.
The first Test ended in a draw after Bangladesh dominated much of the game. Sri Lanka also made two changes to their side. Sonal Dinusha made his debut, and Vishwa Fernando came in for the injured Milan Rathnayke. Dinusha replaced Angelo Mathews, who retired from Test cricket after the first game against Bangladesh.
The line-ups are as follows: Bangladesh’s team includes Shadman Islam, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mominul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das (w), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hossain, and Nahid Rana. Sri Lanka’s team comprises Pathum Nissanka, Lahiru Udara, Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva (c), Kusal Mendis (w), Sonal Dinusha, Tharindu Ratnayake, Vishwa Fernando, Prabath Jayasuriya, and Asitha Fernando.
