German Envoy Bids Adieu to Bangladesh, Highlights Strengthened Ties

Dhaka: Achim Tr¶ster, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bangladesh, paid a farewell call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna, marking the conclusion of his four-year diplomatic tenure in Dhaka. Professor Yunus warmly congratulated the ambassador on the successful completion of his assignment and acknowledged his contributions to enhancing the Bangladesh-Germany relationship.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ambassador Tr¶ster expressed deep affection for his time in Bangladesh, describing it as a standout experience in his diplomatic career. He emphasized the overwhelming hospitality of the Bangladeshi people and expressed his gratitude and respect as he prepares to leave the country. The ambassador also mentioned the significance of the Investment Summit and wished Bangladesh success in its reform process, alongside hopes for a fair and free election.



The Chief Adviser highlighted Germany’s role as Bangladesh’s largest trading partner in Europe and expressed gratitude for Germany’s ongoing development assistance, particularly in humanitarian efforts supporting the Rohingya population. Professor Yunus acknowledged Germany’s unwavering support in critical areas, noting the importance of such partnerships.



As the meeting concluded, Professor Yunus expressed hopes for continued communication with Ambassador Tr¶ster, valuing his insights as a friend of Bangladesh. The meeting was attended by SDG Coordinator and Senior Secretary Lamiya Morshed, along with Md. Mosharaf Hossain, Director General of the West Europe and EU at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
