36-Member National Committee Formed to Celebrate Mass Uprising Days

Dhaka: A 36-member national committee has been established to commemorate the student-people uprising days in July and August. Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus will lead the committee as its chairman, as per a statement released by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Liberation War Affairs and Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk-e-Azam will serve as the vice-chairman of the committee. Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has been appointed as the programme coordinator, while other advisers of the interim government will participate as members.



The committee also includes Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Professor Ali Riaz and other notable members such as Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, Safar Raj Hossain, Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Emdadul Haque, and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman. High-ranking officials like the Cabinet Secretary or Principal Secretary, Army Chief, Navy Chief, Air Chief, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance (Finance Division), and Foreign Secretary are also part of the committee.



The celebrations will span 36 days, from July 1 to August 5, marking the anniversary of the July Uprising. The programme will commence on July 1 with prayers and supplications in memory of the martyrs at various religious places of worship, including mosques, temples, pagodas, and churches.
