Khulna: The Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has enforced stringent security measures, including restrictions under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, around 26 examination centers for the duration of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these restrictions will also extend beyond Khulna to the district and other parts of the country during the exams, which are set to begin on June 26. Md Zulfiqar Ali, the police commissioner of the KMP, announced that gatherings of five or more people would be banned within 200 yards of the examination centers during the exams.
The order further prohibits the carrying of arms, sharp weapons, sticks, explosive materials, and any activities causing sound pollution through loudspeakers or electronic devices. Additionally, all Photostat machines near the exam centers must be turned off. The KMP chief emphasized that any violations of this order would be met with action.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,16,317 students, including 58,472 girls, are set to take the HSC examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education this year. These students will participate in the public examinations from 575 colleges across 240 centers in all 10 districts under the Jashore Board, with exams scheduled to commence on June 26, similar to other education boards in the country, as stated by Professor Dr Abdul Matin, the controller of Examinations of the Board.
