Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today emphasized that BNP is firmly against mob culture and assured that any party member found involved in the mob incident against former Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda will face investigation and disciplinary measures. “We do not believe in mob culture, we are constantly struggling to establish the rule of law,” he asserted in a statement.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salahuddin expressed hope that the allegations against former Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda, along with his arrest and trial processes, will be managed within the legal framework. He clarified that the BNP does not endorse the humiliation of Nurul Huda, describing the incident as isolated.

Salahuddin further emphasized that everyone’s legal and constitutional rights must be respected. He also criticized former Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda for his alleged partisanship, claiming that Huda is among those responsible for undermining democracy in Bangladesh and deteriorating the electoral system. Salahuddin added that several individuals contributed to corrupting state constitutional institutions to extend Sheikh Hasina’s rule, which he described as fascist.
