Singapore: Winning gold is a great feeling, according to Archer Abdur Rahman Alif, who secured his maiden international gold medal in the men’s recurve individual event at the Asia Cup Stage-2. Alif triumphed over Japanese archer Miyata Gakuto with a 6-4 victory in the gold-deciding match held in Singapore.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alif expressed his elation through a video message, stating, “It’s a great feeling to me because this is the first time I have been able to hear the national anthem on foreign soil after winning the first gold in an international competition.” Looking ahead, Alif revealed that his focus is now on winning a medal at the Olympics, and he is preparing under the guidance of his coach to achieve this goal.

Alif also urged the archery federation to organize more competitions to enhance the team’s performance. He emphasized, “More competitions are needed to improve the team’s performance because if the federation organizes more competitions for the team, the world ranking of the team would improve, and the chance of qualifying for the Olympics would be brighter.”
