Dhaka: Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki today extended greetings to young film director Mahde Hasan’s debut feature film ‘Sand City’ actor Mostafa Monwar and sound designer Aranyak Prithvi for its world premiere at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Czech Republic next month. He handed over a bouquet to them at his secretariat office.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farooki emphasized that the government will recognize individuals who promote Bangladeshi culture or gain recognition for the country on the international stage in fields such as music, cinema, photography, theater, and architecture. He described the international recognition of the young director as a moment of pride for the country.

Mahde Hasan’s ‘Sand City’ has been selected as one of the 13 films in the Proxima Competition section at the prestigious festival. Before its world premiere, Bangkok-based international sales agency Diversion has acquired the rights for worldwide sales, excluding Bangladesh and Switzerland.

Rubaiyat Hossain and Adnan Imtiaz Ahmed produced the film under Khona Talkies Production Company in cooperation with Cinema Cocoon. A team from Bangladesh will be attending the festival, and to honor their success, the adviser announced that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will cover the air travel expenses for one team member, instructing the relevant authorities to take necessary measures.
