Khagrachari: A woman was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Birashtila area of Tabalchari in Matiranga upazila of the district today. The deceased was Pormila Thripura, 40, wife of Guja Thripura from the Maichchora area of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the transport they were riding and fell into a roadside ditch. Pormila died on the spot, while police rescued the two injured individuals who were later admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
Police have seized the vehicle involved in the accident, but the driver managed to escape from the scene. The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter traffic regulations in the area.
