Gaibandha: The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival for Muslims, was celebrated across all seven upazilas of Gaibandha district with religious fervor, solemnity, and a spirit of sacrifice.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the celebration began early in the morning as people of all ages, including young, old, and children, gathered at nearby eidgahs, mosques, and designated open spaces to offer their Eid prayers. The central Eid congregation was organized at the Central Eidgah Maidan near Zila Stadium, arranged by the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Choudhury Muazzam Ahmed, along with senior district officials, political leaders, town elites, professionals, and journalists, participated in the main congregation. DC Ahmed warmly welcomed the attendees and exchanged Eid greetings at the Eidgah Maidan’s gate on behalf of the district administration. In his address, DC Ahmed emphasized the administration’s dedication to the district’s development and sought the community’s support in achieving these objectives. He also promised full administrative backing for the progress of the Eidgah Maidan.
Additional Eid congregations took place across various locations in the town, including the Gaibandha Police Lines, Gausul Azam Eidgah, and several mosques such as Al-Falah Jame Mosque, V-AID Road Jame Mosque, and others. A significant congregation was also held at the police lines Jame Mosque, attended by senior police officials who participated in the prayers.
Thousands of attendees offered special prayers for divine blessings, eternal peace for departed souls, and the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the country and Muslim Ummah, exchanging greetings of Eid-Mubarak afterwards. Following the prayers, devotees carried out the ritual sacrifice of thousands of animals, including cows, goats, sheep, and buffaloes, in memory of the sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
On this auspicious occasion, special meals were provided to inmates in the jail and various hospitals, Shishu Paribars, and orphanages throughout the district. For the peaceful conduct of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations, adequate security measures were implemented by the police administration, with the deployment of RAB, police, and other law enforcement agencies, including scouts, throughout the area.
