Sherpur: Two children drowned in a pond around 5 pm today in Malamari village of Kakilakura Union No. 3 of Sribardi upazila in the district. The tragic incident claimed the lives of Swadhin, 5, and Arshaful, 5, both residents of the Malamari area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the family of the deceased and locals reported that Swadhin and Arshaful fell into a pond while playing near their house in the afternoon. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning.
Officer-in-Charge of Sribardi Police Station Md. Anwar Zahid confirmed the incident, emphasizing the unfortunate circumstances that led to the children’s untimely deaths. The local authorities are investigating further to ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future.
