Dhaka: The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second most significant religious festival for Muslims, will be celebrated tomorrow throughout the country with solemnity and religious fervor. Eid-ul-Azha, observed on the 10th day of Zilhajj, commemorates the historic event from 4,500 years ago when Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) was prepared to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Ismail (AS), in devotion to Allah. However, Allah, in His mercy, spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) and sent a ram for the sacrifice instead.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, to honor this event, Muslims nationwide will participate in congregational prayers and animal sacrifices dedicated to Almighty Allah. They will also offer prayers seeking divine blessings for peace, progress, and prosperity of the country, along with the welfare of the global Muslim community.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended his greetings to the nation for Eid-ul-Azha. Various political figures, including BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, have also conveyed their wishes for peace, prosperity, and unity throughout the country, encouraging everyone to share the joy of Eid.

The main Eid-ul-Azha congregation will occur at the Jatiya Eidgah on the High Court premises at 7:30 am on June 7. In the event of adverse weather, the main Jamaat will be relocated to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8 am. Advisers to the interim government, politicians, diplomats, and citizens from all walks of life are expected to attend, with necessary security measures already in place.

As is customary, five Eid Jamaats will be held at Baitul Mukarram mosque, starting at 7 am and continuing at intervals until 10:45 am, according to an Islamic Foundation release. The Jatiya Eidgah congregation will be broadcast live on all television channels. Details of Eid-ul-Azha prayers at major mosques nationwide will be aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar, and other TV channels on the eve of Eid.

State-run Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar, along with other TV and radio stations, will feature special programming to mark the occasion. On Eid day, improved meals will be provided to individuals in government hospitals, prisons, orphanages, and shelters.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and other law enforcement agencies have implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure a smooth celebration in the capital and across the country. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is on high alert to maintain security for the festive occasion.

To facilitate the movement of people traveling home for the holidays, the government has instructed CNG filling stations to remain open 24 hours during Eid holidays. The Power Division has issued a notification mandating these stations to operate round the clock on Eid day, as well as the seven days leading up to and the five days following the festival.
